Mark 14:12โ72
Thursdayโs story is filled with intimacy and heartbreak.
Jesus gathers with His disciples to celebrate the Passover. He breaks bread. He shares a cup.
Then He talks about betrayal and failure.
โOne of you will betray me,โ He says.
And Judas went out as he had planned and purposed to do.
โPeter, you will deny me,โ He says.
โEven if all fall away, I will not,โ Peter replies.
But Jesus tells him, โTonight, before the rooster crows twice, you will disown me three times.โ
And they all go on.
To the garden.
To the arrest.
To the trial.
To failure.
Judas betrays Jesusโon purpose.
Peter denies Jesusโby accident.
And Jesus knew both were coming.
He knew Judas had made up his mind.
He knew Peterโs courage would collapse.
He named them both at the table.
And He made space for them both in the story.
Judasโs betrayal wasnโt a surprise. Jesus said it plainly: โThe Son of Man will go just as it is written about Him.โ
Even Judasโs darkness had been folded into the plan of redemption.
Peterโs denial wasnโt a dealbreaker. Jesus said it plainly: โWhen you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.โ
Even Peterโs weakness was already part of Godโs restoration.
Two kinds of failure.
One heart of grace.
Jesus made room for both.
He had already made peace with the pain.
He had already prepared to meet both betrayal and denialโnot with shame, but with sovereign love.
And if Jesus made room for themโฆ
Heโs already made room for you.
So yesโlife is full of decisions.
Should I let go? Should I stay?
Am I tending what I should? Am I missing something important?
But even when you choose wrongโon purpose or by accidentโJesus is still your Savior.
And His grace is big enough for your missteps, your betrayals, your regrets, your blind spots.
You are not holding this story together.
He is.
And He already knows how to weave it into resurrection.
Mindfulness Moment:
Take a deep breath.
Bring to mind something youโre afraid of failing inโ
a decision, a relationship, a moment where youโre unsure or afraid to get it wrong.
Hold it gently.
Now whisper to yourself:
โJesus has already made room for this.โ
He sees you.
He knows your heart.
And Heโs already writing resurrection on the other side of it.
Let His grace hold what you canโt.
